Creative
inspiration often starts out as an accident.
It happens when I least expect it, and if I'm lucky, when I need
it most. A household object suddenly becomes the visual metaphor
I've needed for a project. A casual remark from a friend sends my
imagination down a path it had never traveled before.
As much as I would like to, I can't force inspiration. It won't
just show up on my command. However, I can let it find me. Keep
my mind and heart receptive to it. Notice it when I walk by it.
Remember it and store it for safekeeping.
And then I can act on it. I can take that abstract energy and use
it to create something tangible, useful, perhaps even beautiful.
When that happens, it's not an accident. It's a gift.
